BBC 990 vs 026 head?

OK, I am looking for another head and this one pops up. It's a 026 head that the guy say's is an open chamber rec. port and it looks that way from the crappy pics. Is it as good or more or less the same head as far as how it will perform? I have to port the crap out of it to get a match with my other one so I can live with prior machine work. And it looks uncut to me.

BBC 990 vs 026 head?

The 990 head is a 118cc open chamber rectangle head. It is a service replacement head, also used on Mark IV crate engines. The 026 head is a LS6 rectangle head. It also is 118cc open chamber head. Make it a condition of the sale that it pass magnafluxing.

Really good advice right there. Also, invest in a kit to cc the chambers. They could be anywhere from 113 to 124. If you don't know the volume of the chambers, you cannot intelligently figure the static compression ratio. Without that, you cannot intelligently choose a camshaft.
