Post BBC choice

I am looking for a big block crate engine, 454/425HP, 502/450HP or 502/502HP, that will idle smooth but have quite a bit of kick off the line. It will be going in a 57 2 dr HT chevy,
turbo 400, 10 or 12 bolt with 373 gears.
I would like to achieve at least a 13 sec. quarter.
I am not interested in a "loppy" engine and am concerned that either of the 502's will idle a little hard but have never heard one.
Which engine would you recommend.
Also what should the stall speed for the torque converter be?
please advise..

personally if you have the money i would go with a merlin crate motor, either the 509 or the 540, the cost about the same and come all ready to run. plus you have an engine with much better internals, forged crank, 4340 rods, merlin block and so on. the cheapest one about equals the price of a 502/502 but is all complete with carb, dist and all. and runs perfect
