BBC engine build ???????????

Whats up Hotrodders? I have a 68 BBC I have a stock crank with stock pistons. What would be a good hydraulic Roller camshaft to use. And also could i use my stock connecting rods and use a 10:5 dome piston. Your knowledge would very appreciated.

A 68 block will not accept the factory roller set up, that puts you into the rather expensive aftermarket.

Nothing short of race or airplane gas or methanol will accept 10.5 compression, this isn't practical, nor really even possible, to do on a street engine without aluminum heads.

BBC engine build ???????????

First we need more info,is this a 396 or 427 ? What heads ? What intake ? What do you plan on doing with it ? Street or strip ?? With the proper camshaft selection you can go as high as 10.5:1 and use pump gas, although it would be more practical to go with 10 or less,or as stated use aluminum heads. What kind of vehicle is this going in ?? With todays motor oils lacking important additives it is easier to acheive proper break in with roller cams, there have been lots of cam lobes going flat lately.Trans & gearing are also important in cam selection.
