BBC Forged vs. cast pistons?

My father is putting together a mild 454 for his 4x4 truck. Two bolt main stock cast crank, scat 7/16 forged rods 9:1 compression idle-5,000 cam. No supercharger or nitrous, the forged pistons are about 200 more than the cast. This truck will be daily driven, what would be the best piston? cast, hyper or forged? Just don't wanna be penny wise and dollar foolish. Thanks.

Forged would be overkill. Great place for the use of Hypers, but plain cast would last just as well with that rpm limit.

I think the cast will work great and last a long time with that engine.

This part I'm getting second hand, but someone had told me forged pistons can introduce more noise/slop during warm-up because of the different expansion rates between the forged pistons and the cast block. -Anyone confirm this? -or was he just talkin' to hear himself?

Correct, but not entirely, it is not the difference between cast iron and forged aluminum, but the difference between cast aluminum and forged aluminum. Block expands the same for both. Forged pistons will have a looser fit in the bore until they warm up because the forged piston expands more than cast, so it has to be fit looser at room temp to allow for this expansion. May also have more blow-by and slightly more oil consumption when cold for the same reason.

Thanks, cast sounds like it would be the right choice.
