I am just building a 396 and am looking for a 500 hp weekend cruiser . My biggest problem is finding the right heads to build the motor around . It is going into a 69 nova with 456 gears and probaly a 3200 stall . I am hoping to get 6500 rpm out of the 2 bolt block . Currentley the motor has casting number 6272292 oval port open chamber heads are these good enough with a little work or i can get a set of ported bare rec port closed chamber heads . what is better for a weekend warrior and which is the cheapest most productive way to go . ABE seems to know his bbc heads and anyone else can you please help . much appreciated . Also i would like to run in the 11s in the quarter high 11s that is .
