BBC swap - bunch of q's

hi there, found this site googling around
i am somewhat new to the big block chevy world,
more used to working on my nissan... but i am catching up though...

PROJECT: swap 92 GMC 454 (Gen V) TBI + 700R4 + Dana 70 into an 83 van
Hopefully it will become a custom 4x4 by the end of this summer as well...
Reliability is the key. Must last. Performance is nice. Emissions dont matter.

i am on a college student budget, so parts-wise i have to be reasonable
i am trying to make the ultimate list of parts to get while everything is out
i can't afford a complete engine rebuild this time around
but i do want to get the more important parts

so far i am thinking about:

- lightly used alum c&r 30x20 radiator + oil cooler + AT cooler + electric fan
- mechanical cast iron water and oil pumps, possibly in-tank fuel pump + filter
- looks like i will have to get a good old double roller chain, maybe hex-adjust
- brake master cylinder, tranny filter, power steering reservour, (ac removed)
- some headers and muffler - any brand-specific suggestions? catco cat + o2

debating about and looking for opinions:

- dual vs single exhaust, also the usefulness of X-pipes
- replacing brake and tranny fluid lines, maybe with flexible ones
- looking for info on MSD 6 vs HEI ignitions
- an MSD GM-HEI distributor 8365 with new hei module + coil
- have to research more on Megasquirt carputer

what else should i be concerned with??? my first swap here...

all suggestions are welcomed, all info appreciated

yes, i do have the engine, tranny and diff - all with 120 K miles
they are in a badly rusted 92 gmc 3500HD box van
i just purchased a nice straight 83 shorty body
i need to buy the parts asap and get it all out of my friend's shop

i am swapping the Gen V TBI 454, 4L80E, and D-70
like i said, i am kinda new to the big block world
even though i do have a moderately modified nissan
so i need some practical advice - read my first post

yesturday i also read up on exhaust at superchevy magazine
so i think i am starting to figure that out kinda
i will have to calculate the 2.2 CFM per HP flow and go from there
