I have the "unlimited products" 2-1/4" cowl hood on my 65 Chevelle
because I needed clearance for my Wieand Stealth. My question is:
I would like to run the stock hood again..is there a good low intake
manifold that will perform like the high risers. My LS6 is almost done
and it was desk top dynoed at 539/565 with the Stealth, don't want to
loose those numbers. I thought of the stock aluminum factory LS6 intake,
but that is for a 70 Chevelle hood and the 70 has more clearance than the 65.
I know this is a Chevelle and engine question, but you guys have th answers.

The 1971 corvette used a low rise flatie version of the LS-6 intake on the 454-425hp LS-6

No there is no aftermarket manifold the same.

in 1965 there was a 396-375 hp "Z-16" RPO car. It had the hi rise manifold, holley carb and correct low profile air cleaner and fit under the stock hood.

The 427L-72 L-88 air cleaner is the lowest profile air cleaner.

Google search Z-16 396 chevelle.

You need the correct 396 oil pan, frame tabs and motor mounts and either the origional Z-16 air cleaner or the corvette 427-425HP L-72 or L-88 air cleaner base. You can still buy these from restoration sources.
Remove the carb choke and choke horn or get a HP style center body.
