bbf casting number help.

I am looking at a ford engine that is claimed to be a 429. The codes i could find are 2j12m d3u3-a2a 32514666. the first is on the side of the head i think, the second i think is the date code. and the third then is ? thanks for the help. If it isnt a 429 its a 460 im thinking, it is a big big engine with stright plugs. it looks a good deal wider than the 6.6. thanks

Is there no ford guys on this site? I seem to get fewer if any responces to ford engine questions. any way what ever it is its 650.00 and comes with the tranny. not bad since it has no miles on it and has 400.00 into the rebuild. In any case it has more power than my 351 w has.

There's quite a batch of Ford guys here, I just saw the post. I think part of the problem is the #'s you posted. Seem kind of odd and not your typical Ford # sequence. The first # seems a date code the second ones D3U3-A2A appears close but not a # it may be D3VE-A2A which would be a 460 head. The D3 part indicates a 1973 and later production and the V is a Lincoln originated part (most 460s have that since the 460 was originally a Lincoln engine). There were no 429 engines produced in cars after about 1972.
