Bear claw door latches

I have a 1931 Ford Model A sedan that I want to have shaved door handles on. I think I would like to use the Bear claw type latches and I don't know what type of remote door opener I should use. So if you guys have any suggestions I would appreciate it. Also they have large and small bear claws I think I should need the large ones, also are the latch plates any good or needed? Thanks guys

Steve

You can use any type of solenoid that provides a linear action for locking and unlocking. Small bear claw latches are normally used on deck lids and other small doors. I would not use a small bear claw latch on a passenger or drivers door.

On a model "A" Ford the small Bear claw latches work great!! Much stronger than orig latch and won't pop open when the body/frame get torqued. They can be installed with unit mounted just a bit lower than the orig door latch and be operated by a small cable from the stock handle down to a pulley/roller mounted lower than the window glass/mech. Then routed up to the latch release mech.

An electric door is simpler yet with solenoid mounted in lower door with cable going up to latch.

I have also mounted the lock mech in the door post and electric solenoid at lower inner post. Burglar alarm magnetic switch and a relay= no visable key entry. Just KEEP BATTERY CHARGED!!! or mounted where it can be serviced when low.

Electric bear claw latches

What do yo guys think of these. Are they any good. My plan is to use these and buy a remote setup to activate these to open my doors (1931 Ford Model A) without the handles. I think this is a good price. Can anyone tell me if they are the same as the plain bear claw latches just with the actuator built in and if they are reliable. thanks

Steve

You would be better off with the small power operated ones the vendor sells. The small units are plenty for a model "A" door.

Who is the Vendor???? I have been to Autolock (spelling??) site but can not find any. If you could link me to a site I would be in your debt.

Thanks

BONCRMAN are these what you are talking about? I still cant find them from a vendor. Are the power latches better or worse than the manual? I plan on using either set as a remote open with no door handles.

These are the large ones, which may be overkill for a 31. But the price is right. This is the deal I bought for my 41. They are good people to deal with.
