You can use cables with a return spring but a direct rod linkage works better in the long run as cables eventually stretch requiring adjustment later on. Sometimes you need to make a pivot to change the direction of motion for it to work. I'd use the larger latches and get them installed then mock everything up and figure your linkage design. Robbing parts from donor cars can sometimes save some work but takes some scavanging time. Bob
