i was just wondering if any body had seen a beater vette for sale lately because I had an idea for a project car but needed to get an idea on a price. i want the price of a C2 vette so i can make a price list on microsoft excell.

not to pop your balloon, but beater vetts? think that might be a tad hard to find, that car is snapped up at every turn. Lots of hot rod parts on those chassis's and most know the value, a piece of trash 70 something will bring 5 grand all day, and that is a capital Piece of trash

No theres no rusty 'Vettes.....mainly because their fiberglass
The C2s and C3 vette around here are all claimed or already repaired. Ive seen a couple C4 vette's like mine for sale. But they all needed some work and were in the neighborhood of about 7-9k bucks. But then you can get a good deal every so often like I did on my corvette and pay 6k for one that was in much better shape than some of the more expensive ones.
Just keep your eyes peeled, you never know you might find a great deal.

Tell me that after you pull the dash out of one!!

Corvette Metal parts (interior) rust worse than any other, primely because of high cabin heat, (non insulated from the factory on the older cars) and tightly sealed cabin..Condensation settles on every metal part it can find and eats it alive..One reason switches have such a short life span.

About "Beater Vettes" not happening..most know that if it has an engine, with no internal parts hanging on the outside, and a tranny, that has all it's gears, and a Dana posi (especially the LS) with full 1/2 shafts..It's a gold mine to part out..EBAY a Dana Posi Limited Slip with full 1/2 shafts (came in one year only 1980) you'll find it alone will bring $3500..at an auction.

I see a lot of EBAY's that start out at $1500, with a reserve set at $6500, and of those most are ragged..I wouldn't mess with them..and I buy several parts cars..

About the only way to find one is pure luck, finding someone that has had one sitting in a barn for 30 years, and has no clue as to it's actual value..just wants to get rid of it..

This is also by northern California standards too, It may be different where you live...But I doubt it.

This collection of 35 Corvettes belongs to Peter Max..60's Hippie Artisan ..

He bought them 30 years ago for just under 1/2 a million dollars! there they have sat rotting in a New York underground garage since..

Peter Max Say's he wants to turn them into Deco art ..But hasn't had the time ....

If sold today (individually) I guess they would fetch about 20 to 30 times what he paid for them..

Your not going to find a C2 that you will be able to do what you want....they are all bringing good money. Your best bet if you want low price will be a 75-77. Before that the steel bumper cars are starting to go up and 78 are 25 year anny cars. 79-82 are holding in the 12-15k range. Same as the early C4's are hanging in the low to mid teens 92 and up went to the LT1 so they bring more

I read the Peter Max thing. I think thats really disgusting. A non car guy stealing 36 beautiful Vettes from people who really respect the cars, and deciding to paint them in "Bright, Signature" colors. One of them is a 53! I think we should create some kind of petition. The only problem is he paid for them so they are his property so the law protects those vettes from being saved so he can do as he wishes with them.
