Post Bed Roll Tail Lights Installed

Thanks to willys36@aol.com I found these cool lights to add to my truck ... not only do they look great, but they add a lot of safety to driving. I installed them tonight :

If you're interested, you can order them on the web :

Horvath - lights look great. Guess I will need to get a pair now.

HEY! Just noticed your industrial strength tail gate latches! Any way to get rid of those dangling chains is great. I adapted a mini-truck center pull latch to my tailgate, ran the pull rods thru the roll on top of the gate.

I was in OK City a few weeks ago at the southwest nats and seen a 48 and he used cabinet hinges from a boat. They even have a place to put a pin through them. Those lights are also very cool, I may have to get some for my 48.

Thanks, guys

The lights were a snap to install and man, does it feel good knowing I have greater visibility when I'm braking or turning.

The tail gate was done really nice! I don't know where to get those T-nuts if I ever lose one ... it looks like he (the last owner) may have had them made? Anyway, they work great!

Speaking of tail gates ... I'd like to do a deal like my El Camino had where you lift a handle and she opens -- I think you might have that goin' on willys36 with your mini-truck center pull latch. Can you give more details on what you did and how? Any pics?

My T-nuts are way better than chains -- that's for sure -- but they're still a pain in the butt when I want to open the tail gate.

Alan

Those T-nuts look like something the military or an industrial plant machine would use to hold down a cover on a generator or something. Was that Texas boy you bought that truck from a plant-working man or National Guardsman?

willys36 : I'd be hot on doing something like that to my tailgate ... especially once I get around to dealing with the bed and re-doing the oak.

pasadenahotrod : That Texas boy was a policeman ... but you never know -- I wouldn't be surprised -- the military thing makes sense.

Horvath...check some of the truck mags. They have latches that goes on the inside so you don't see anything unless you look in the bed. BTW the lights look GREAT!!.

I suppose you have seen the seat belt latches attached to the inside upper corners of the tailgate. Clean setup.

Also, these are in out Tech archives.

Thanks, Kevn. I'll keep a look-out in the mags, too.

Hey, willys36 - cool article. Thanks.
