I've almost got the loan paid off, and will soon be able too start doing some mods to the 78 El Camino. Just wanted too ask your opinions on my plans. I'm going too get rid of the 305, TH350, and stock rearend gears. My plans include a slightly built 427 big block, 700r4, and a posi rearend with 3.73 gears. Doesn't need too be the fastest car on the road, just want a fun too drive street machine. What do you all think of the power-train plans for the 78 El Camino ??

you should stay with the 305 and the turbo 350 and GIVE that 427 & 700R4 to me for $1

if that dont make it FUN to drive only Paris Hilton washing it will

IMO nuthin replaces displacement!!

otherwise, not bad. make sure the trans can stand up to a solid 427.

Yes, I will have too take another loan too build the 427, but that's okay. I plan on building it over the next 5 to 10 years. I'm in no hurry. It's been sitting in the driveway for a couple years already, so it can sit in a garage/barn for a while after I move. (Note; hope too rent/buy a old farm house outside the Omaha, Ne. area this summer.)
