bell housings

RC Industries cast iron bellhousing bears the marking "NHRA-AHRA-Approved chevy When was it made and can you tell me any thing about it?

Most of those type cast housings (scattershields) were made in the late sixties. Before the modern Hydro formed (Lakewood style) steel shields were developed. They would contain a clutch explosion. A flywheel coming apart at speed would usually take out the rear of the block and parts of the housing. I have seen several that were multi-pattern and would mount different trannys.
