Post bent push rod

i had a engine builder put a 327 together for me i brought it home foged it up ran it at a 2000 idle for 5 min. then slowly brought the revs up to 2500 then let it idle down back to 2000 and wham, stop, oh,oh pulled it apart and found a stuck spring and a molly rod that was now s shaped yes i did say s the builder claims that the head was responsible but i discovered that the 2 centre intake bolts were to long and one of them was binding on the push rod my question is could the intake bolt cause such a catastrophy the builder says no . how about it guys i have never seen a rod bent with 3 curves have you.

Your "builder" should have known that. It sounds like he's now trying to cover himself. If this is an honest shop they should stand behind their work. If this is a shadetree type then you're probably out of luck unless you are willing push legal action.
