Hmmmmmm.... not so sure on that.

Entered my VIN, got the country, engine spec, and transmission wrong. Out of all the other vin decoders I've used, never have any of them decoded this data incorrectly.

Yeah ... I might have spoken too soon. I was using it at work today, and was extremely impressed at the amount of detail.

Most decoders will tell you year, make, (non-specific) model, country of mfr, and engine ... very basic stuff.

Tonight, I tried to decode my own serial numbers ... and you guys are right.

It mis-identified my 98 Grand Prix GTP as a GT, with a naturally aspirated 3.8 ... with fewer options all around.

Having worked at a Ford dealership for many years ... I really should have known better.

The VIN really doesn't contain any trim, GVW, or optional equipment lists. That information was usually "dealer only".
