Best Bedliner ... Frame Rails ... Toneau Cover?

My cousin just bought a brand new 2003 GMC Sinoma pickup w/extended cab and he's happier than a pig in mud!
:D

1 - He wants to know what the best bedliner would be and whether or not he should put a matt under the bedliner.

2 - What would be the best (non-metal) frame rails to use?

3 - What would be the best toneau cover and should he get the cover that goes over the rails or not?

THANKS!

Rhino liner is the best bedliner, but $$$.

Depends what your going to be using the truck for when in comes to the covers. The best in my mind for looks are hard fiberglass covers. Secondly for a truck bed that will be in use for tools etc the retractable hard covers are great. Any cloth or vinyl cover looks tacky and gets in the way and deteriorate or tear pretty easy.

Thanks, HK

He works in a steel mill and basically uses the truck for driving more than for work ... he's extremely meticulous about everything, too - I mean, we're talking about Mr. Perfectionist hisself - so he likes to research the living daylights out of things first ... which you have to admire.

I'm trying to get him to use his PC more than he does - he (being an ex car mechanic + his experience at the mill) would be a great addition to this board! - but like many people over the age of 30, he avoids turning it on!

Alan, I recommend a spray in bed linner vice and insert. The inserts allow moisture to stay on the covered metal and is a great breeding ground for RUST!! Of the commercial spray ins, my choice is LineX. It is sprayed on at about 145 degrees, very consistent and durable for most medium duty use. Rhino is second choice for anything other than heavy duty use, then its first. Disadvantages are that the color choices other than black are not as ultraviolet resistant and will fade. You will notice in my photo album I am holding a running board that was sprayed with LineX and you can see the rib detail quite well. My 68 Bronco half cab has LineX in it that has been there for over 4 years and it is my go anywhere, haul anything truck. The bed liner still looks like new!!

I say if he's got a new truck then have a spray in liner put in.
But if somebody has a truck thats got a scratched and dented bed then a plastic bed liner is the way to go. I've had a plastic bedliner was in my V8 truck for 5 years and the bed in no more scratched up now than it was when I put it in.
