whats worse is that they don't even make a sales cut, and the wages are near minimum, I think. WTH people?! Settle down!

I hate Best Buy. The one near me has the worst designed parking lot (parking maze) I've ever seen. The sales staff are annoying even when you find one that actually knows what he's talking about.

Being a former electronics salesman, (quite a few years ago), I know what it's like to work on commission. The guys in the stores make most of their money during the Christmas season, so you'll just have to overlook their zeal to sell you something you don't want.
Being a salesman is a tough job. I hated it. Brian |

That does not piss me off as much as stopping at a MacDonald's to get a coffee and they ask if you like an apple pie or danish.
If wanted the fat food, I would have asked for it to Begin with. |

This is the opposite of the Best Buy in my area. More than once I have walked out because there were not a sales person to be found and there were not that many customers. Looks as if some one would have become interested when I was opening boxes to read about the contents but no, just totally ignored. I told my son about it and he went and picked up the XM radio that I was looking for because he knew I would be to stuborn to go back.

Sold one of my business in 2002 hand some extra cash and I wanted a brand new Corvette since I was 14 year old so decided this is the time in my life that I will fulfill that dream. Looked locally but it was late in the model year and our local Chevy dealer was out of allocation. My wife and me were in the Topeka Kansas and decided to stop by the Chevy dealer and see what they had in stock. I was dressed in an old shirt, Levis, tennis shoes and my wife was dressed about the same. Went into the Chevy dealership looking like we could even afford a new Geo and walked into the show room where there was 4 Corvettes parked. One of the sales person ask if we need help and we said that we were looking at the Corvettes and he ok and walk off. We spend about 45 minutes looking at the different models while 5 different salesman were looking out the windows for their next victim. My wife and me decided that we were going to buy the silver one if we could strike a deal so I stood in the middle of the showroom with 5 sales people looking out the window and YELLED I would like to buy a Corvette Right NOW and pay CASH for it. That was like tossing a dead fish into a pool of sharks. Anyway an hour latter we drove off with a 2002 Silver Corvette.

thats funny.
The thing about best buy is they are NOT commisioned! My best buy they have sort of this "fake" customer service idea, where they bug you alot with "do you need any help" or "can I help you with anything" type of questions. Fact is they are only doing this because they are told to, and secretly they hope you say "no". Well I was comparison shopping and had just come from circuit city. When I asked the best buy "kid" in stero dept if they sold "phono pre amps" mind you, I had just come from CC where they have them. SO then he asks what it is. I say its a device that allows you to hook a turntable to a "modern" stereos AUX port with out loosing the volume. He says "he'll look", then he goes and asks the "stereo guy". Then He comes over and tells me "THERES NO SUCH THING" with the obligatory "sorry, but go away look". Well as I was walking out of the section, I stop and there on the rack is a "PHONO PRE AMP" I pick it up and wave it at the clerks, while waving my middle finger at them. I went to circuit city and bought theirs, paid 10$ more too, but I have my principals! |

Yep, employees at best buy aren't the smartest people ever. I should now I work there but only as seasonal. I hate how were "supposed" to ask a lot of questions about what your looking for and have to push sales for nothing in return for the sales people. And what crazygutgut is saying is true, most of the people in best buy don't have a clue about what they are selling. My supervision in the car stereo department doesn't know crap about cars or anything like that. Damn I'm glad I'm only seasonal. |

When I bought my computer I went to Best Buy.The guy asks me what I would primarily be using it for.I told him " to download porn and pirate music" My younger brother was with me and he hit the ground. There were also about three other couples close by and all the men started snikering. The sales guy had to pick his jaw up off the ground.

You know what else sucks about best buy? The cheeseball who tries to say "Hi, how you doing?" every damned time somebody walks through the door. Like dude, I don't know you. Don't pretend we're best buddies. Especially when I'm having a conversation with somebody and this guy has to interrupt to say "hey!" Like, dude. Shut up, I'm trying to talk here! lol. K

Well fellas, we get what we pay for right? If you want knowledgable people you have to go to specialized sources.
Best Buy, Circuit City and such will not meet the salary requirements of people with experience and knowledge. The same can be said for any big department type store. Think about it, if you need a block cleaned, machined and finished you take it to a competent machinist, not a high school kid in shop class. Why would you expect a kid in an electronics warehouse to possess the same knowledge as a professional audio consultant or installer? Doesn't make sense to me. When I go into one of these places I have my mind made up on what I want and I look for it. I don't expect anything more than a greeting and some help loading the stuff into my car. If I go to a specialized audio/video store I expect knowledgeable people with answers to my questions. I expect to be catered to. I expect them to deliver my stuff and I expect to pay extra for the knowledge and the service. You get what you pay for. Larry |
