Post Best Chevy SB Heads

I've read that the SB2.2 (non restrictor plate version) head is the absolute best flowing head that you can get for a SB Chevy. One guy that builds dirt late model motors said that he has dynoed practically every SB Chevy high-end aluminum head available and the SB2.2 produces the most HP and torque by far. Does anyone know of anybody using these on a street motor? I hear the only place to buy them is used from Cup teams.

Yes, these are the current hot set up for all out small block chevs. We have built a few late model engines with these and, they will spit out 800+ easy horsepower in a 430 Rodeck. However, this is not just a bolt on deal. These heads require an offset jesel or equivalent rocker shaft setup, and alot of fabrication, grinding, clearancing for pushrods, custom pushrods, long valves, ect. In other words these babies are cost prohibitive for a street car. 18 degree heads can come fairly close to the output of sb2's , but the valvetrain is still fairly exotic, as these heads take special intake manifolds and exhaust, ect. I have seen SB2 stuff for sale in auctions fairly cheap, but remember all of the stuff you have to have to run them, even special piston dome configurations are required for alot of these heads.
