Best gun for PPG Concept single stage

Well after 5 years of what seems like mostly sanding Im pretty close to shooting my VW Bus project. After shooting quite a bit of Slick Sand and K38 my Devilbiss FLG3 is pretty much ruined so Im looking for a new gun.

We are going to shoot single stage PPG Concept on it so Im looking for a gun recommendation. We only have a 110v compressor so we need something that doesnt require a crazy CFM rating. Also any recommendations on tip size would be great too. The spec sheet for Concept is fairly broad so I figure I would ask.

Im not too concerned about price, my plan is to shoot this project and put the gun on ebay to minimize my actual expense.

Thanks guys!!

Dont know if you can find one or not, because they have been discontinued but a Sharpe platinum with a 1.3 tip and a 2000 air cap would spray concept pretty good and it only uses 7.5 cfm................so keep an eye out.

I wouldnt worry so much about who makes the gun as long as it has a tip no smaller than a 1.3 if your color has metallics and no bigger than a 1.4 for solid colors and clears...a 1.4 is a pretty good medium that can be used for both with a little practice but a 1.3 is a little too small for high solid colors and clears and will tend to spray dry...If I could only have one I'd go with the 1.4..

Good advice so far, I was thinking of a 1.3 or 1.4 as well. We're shooting solid old school original colors, blue and white. 4 coats maybe 5 and a wet sand afterwards. The bus is completely sealed in K38, wet sanded with 600 so its smmooooooooth as glass right now. I'll make a decision here in a few days so if anyone else has some recomendations for PPG Concept let me know!
thanks!

See this thread, post #4, my post. This is how I solved my small (3 hp) air compressor problem, with a HVLP gun.
need suggestions for compressed air filtration / desiccant unit

Now, for the gun.
My suggestion, is to buy a higher end mid grade gun, and learn to use it. In my opinion, by far the biggest variable in spray painting is gun technique. I would plan on keeping the gun. I am guessing the loss of value in a spray gun is about as dramatic as the loss in value of a new car, the moment you drive it of the lot.
