Best HVLP gun for me?
I am fresh out of collision/paint school and am looking to get me some guns at a reasonable price but not cheapies but from the opinion of guys who have been doing this for years what is the best guns for say candy and chameleon applications without spending the Sata and Iwata money and I dont have a huge compressor so i know im limited?

I've used the the cheap guns from Harbor Freight before.... save your money, many of these only last a few paint jobs then start leaking. I used a Husky spraygun from home depot or Lowes (can't remember where we got it from) anyway I shot an enamel paint job with it a few months ago and it was ok. I recommend you checkout spraygun depot.com (I'm not affiliated with them) you can find some decent stuff. I bought a Devilbiss years ago from them that I still use. Its beat up now and I use it mostly for primer but its still going. The best thing it doesn't take much cash out of your pocket. I currently use a SATAJET 3000. I haven't used anything else since it bought this gun. It cost a lot but I am happy with it.

I use a Devilbiss Finishline III to shoot primer and it's a nice gun for what it is. Isn't no Sata, but it's a nice entry level gun while not being plain cheap like the Harbor Freight or big box store guns. You'll find a lot of positive reviews about the Finishline. I've never sprayed base or clear with it however, nor do I plan to.

I love my Sata 3000RP but I have a buddy who lays out some killer paint with a Devilbiss I think he said GFG+ gun and 1.4 tip. I could be sorely mistaken as for the model number but I'm pretty certain that's it.

The Devilbiss I have is the "Finishline" model but not sure if it's I,II, or III. It's what I used before I upgraded to the SATA. I agree it does a good job not only with primer, but enamel and BC/CC systems as well. I have the 1.4 tip. It's a good reliable gun.

I may get flamed, but here goes.
I have had good luck with the Astro QUL series. No they aren't a SATA but they have played one on TV While I am not doing show class paint work I can say the QUL does spray a nice pattern and atomizes the paint well. As with all knock offs you can get good and bad ones due to lack of quality control but if you can buy one from a local jobber that you know, you could always swap it if you had problems. |

I still prefer my Astro for base over my Iwata LPH 400
I've been useing my Astro for about 20 yrs now.
