best Paint to use?

i had the engin cover n my 03 monte carlo SS painted the other day (they were repainting the rear 1/4 pannel) whole they were doign some mnor damage repai on he car,

when i took it in to them i had used model pain on it to paint it red jus tto dress it up some it was solid grey and not that big of a deal.

now it is the same as the car white. but it is a base coat clear coat system for the paint on it. I would like to knwo what is the best kind of paint to use on this so i can repaint the red on the letters>?

but i dont want to hurt the white paint that is on it now. so i guess im wondering how to paint this with out messing up the celar coat base coat.

Can i use the enamel model paint agian on this with out hurting anything?
alsodo i need to scuff the surface when i paint it?

i tried to ask the body shop butthe lang. barrier was not on my side this time I dont speak german .

Model paint??

Spot sand and mask then paint with AUTOMOTIVE paint then sand and buff.

Your spelling is so bad the post is hard to read, you need to use the spell check on every post. I do.

Not sure what you mean by engine cover? Valve covers maybe?
Whatever the case, After the clear has hardened say,a month to be safe, use whatever you want. Model paint is just enamel and will be fine as long as the clear is hard.
Spell check is a wonderfull thing.

sorry for the spelling guys/gals. I'm dyslexic and most of the time i forget to use the spell check seem to be in a hurry 24/7 will attempt to remember more often.

Thanks for the help on this. the engine cover is not the valve covers it is just a piece of plastic that goes over the intake man. and covers it up to look more pretty .

If you go to my car domain site i have a picture of it on there before it got painted white. I had the lettering on it in red .
It is the big Grey thing on top of the motor I guess this is their solution for hiding the intake man. now that we don't have the carb and air cleaner up there any more LOL.
