Since your asking I'm going to assume the body work isnt perfect and since your going over paint and not bare steel epoxy might not be the best choice..
What I would suggest is a high build 2K urathane primer.you'll be able to fill any waves and imperfections much easier than with an epoxy.Epoxy would be a good choice for a pro that wont need so much filling to make the bodywork straight.....I wouldnt go high end either, theres some good 2k primers that will work well at a budget for a DIY such as yourself at a more bareable cost Nason or omini have some decient budget primers that last and are ez to get and have good building potential and they cure much faster than an epoxy.
That said ,if you stripped the car to the metal an epoxy is the ONLY good choice and I'd have to say SPI epoxy is the best choice also
