LOL I did spell swap, as swamp. Anyone I was trying to make a list of "affordable" Hot Rods for teens. Since buying almost any car from the 60's is too much, hell even an 80's or 90's Trans Am is too much now. I still think the S10 is the best Idea though.

I always thought the late 70s-early 80s Ford Fairmont/Mercury Zephyr would make a great sleeper...All the Fox Mustang stuff bolts right in.

I'm not really sure if I would do any on that list you have... But right now is the best time to buy ''ANYTHING'' and you can find one that will be worth something when your done... Just look around .. It's a buyers market right now.. For what you will spend to make a sleeper, You can build something else... As far as a s10 with a v8... Anyone that knows about cars... Will hear you a mile away..
Good luck with what every you decide to build.. At least your wanting to build something and not siting with a game controller in your hand... |

I always thought it was a good idea to put a teenager in something that weighs at least 4000 lbs to increase their chances of survival. You know they're gonna wreck it. The F150 is a good one. Sits higher and has a good frame around the occupants.

Very good point Tech.. A v8 S10 wouldn't be a good thing for a teenager..

Fiero + 3800 = Sleeper
Fiero + V8 = No Sleeper |

Well I have seen first hand what a kid can do with more power then car.... Some kids don't need it,, Are should I say shouldn't have it..Go ahead and tell him to do it.. I won't !!! I don't know if he can handle HP.... If I knew him.. It would be different.... Sorry if I was looking out for a kid... You come here asking for answers... You sometimes ''won't get the one's your looking for...Later

well id say one of them newer style cars would be a canadite. 95 caprice station wagons!! Uhh those are so beautiful! Fierro would be scary with a V8 especially all the weight in the back. You want sbc in front of ya, better chances with a V8 conversion in to a lil chevette a lil 283 into one of those, destoke a 305 to a small 327 crank or even a 3.00 inch crank like the 283. Thats just an idea please dont do this unless you want to drag race! Its too crazy. But the station wagons yea those are sleepers

'78-'88 Caprice. Moderate weight about the same as a musclecar era Chevelle, full frame, most were V-8's and had 8.5 10 Bolt differentials with room for some decent tires. Usually reasonably priced, easy to work on and still quite a few in the Pull-A-Part yards for parts. Lots of "little old lady" owned 4 doors still out there too. Problem is the Donk crowd and Demo guys like 'em too. A wagon would be good, it at least eliminates the "Donkers".

ford Ranger with an Explorer 5.0L swap. There pretty quick, never came stock with the 5.0L but the ex chassis is basically as the trucks, and there very stable. Swap is legal in most of the 50 states.
