best tilt column

I know a lot of guys that put tilt columns in their rides, what have you found that goes in easily and works well?Should it make a difference on what steering gear you are using?Ease of wiring?Has anybody use a newer Ford tilt with air bag in it?Not saying use the bag, just that type of column

It actually depends on the vehicle you are trying to install the column in ... I have found, that for me anyway, a Chevrolet/GMC van tilt works out best. I have put them in Model A's , 32 Fords and 33 - 34 Fords. I even used one in my brothers 40 Ford coupe.

Here is one in my 32 Ford 3W project. The early to - late 70's models are the ones I prefer to use. No key in the column, has the P R N D L2 L1 indicator on the column and a neutral start switch. Uses a standard Chevrolet steering wheel so lots of choices there ...

Easy to hook up on the firewall side with lots of joint combinations available from the after market.

I went and looked at your journal and found THIS

I helped a friend years ago with a Dodge pickup like this and we used a 76 Cordoba donor car ... for most everything. He had bought the car new and had it for a few years and accidentally dropped a big Oak tree on it ( with no insurance ) ... We used the 400 engine, transmission and anything we could. We even installed the tilt column out of it also.

Worked out pretty nice.

Yes,we are going to put it in the 45 Dodge.I have several different columns that I am going to try to see which one will fit and look the best.I have a couple different ones that I had doubles of, on ebay.I will probably use a S-10 manual one as we are going to use S10 running gear.
