Post Best Timing setting SBC?

I am running pre electronic 350 Chevy, with mild cam, quadrajet for street use only. What seems to be best setting using timimg light?? I am set at 12 degree before and appears to be okay,a little extra cranking when hot but no ping.. Any thoughts!! DAVE Shank

12 degree`s is the norm, with 36 to 38 in by 3000 RPM, you can slow down to 10 if need be. if you still run into hot start problems, I`d check the grounds. make sure you have the best grounds possible.

WITH INFO SUPPLIED 12 IS GOOD AND 22 BY 3000 RPM I DONT THINK A LITTLE OVER STOCK WILL HANDLE 36 TO 38 DEGREES.
