best trans for 283 sbc?
been wondering what kind of transmission i would put behind a good 283 motor, for dirt track racing. Also what be prefered on the street. I know what the motor will do, i just need some suggestions on which tranny will make it do its job best.thanks.

For the street I like a TH350 as opposed to a powerglide.
For dirt track racing, I would think a powerglide would serve you well as this seems to be the preferred trans for that venue. What do the rules permit, for the type of racing you will be doing?

As briscoe said I think for what you want to do a glide would be in order much easier to manage 2 gears when having to slow and accelerate
