The new production Super Muncie at http://www.5speeds.com/newm22.html comes to mind. It is totally brand new unit with a much stronger new case and it looks just like the original Muncie.

Rear gear depends on how much of strip or street you will be doing. Generally the 3:70 or thereabouts is considered ideal for street and moderate strip use.

Camaro, 327, dependable, cheap, takeoff and speed do not all belong in the same context.

Take cheap out of it. The Muncie as mentioned should do the trick, just remember that if you go to the strip you will need a scattershield.

If you're not planning to initiate any sudden driveline shocks, look at the Saginaw 4-speed. It has available low-gear ratios of 2.54, 2.84, 3.11 or 3.50, and they bolt in where a 3-speed lived with just a shifter change. The wider-ratio versions will give you quicker & easier takeoff without having to use high-ratio rear end gears.
