Whats the best way to fix door dings?

What exactly do you consider a "ding"?

I saw a video the other day of a guy taking small dents out with dry ice. I've been itching to try it. He said that the dents have to be fairly new for it to work. Could be BS but who knows.

Ding king works great,Heck it even took the vast majority of a dent out of the lower bedside on one of my friends trucks, just poped some of it out with my fist to start with. She backed into her moms car because she couldnt see over the dog box in the bed

In over thirty years in the autobody industry I have learned the difference between a "dent" and a "ding".......it depends on who is responsable for it.
![]() Both of these examples have the exact same damage, a quarter sized indentation in a door. "A,a,a,aaaa honey, ummm, I just accidently put a ding in your new car" "Some NO GOOD ROTTEN &$*#(@# PUT A DENT IN MY CAR!" This lesson has been brought to you by the letter F. ![]() Brian |

However, if this is a late model car with nice paint on it, one of the "paintless dent" repair guys can work miracles. But they push it out from the back. There are kits where you glue a little stud onto the panel and then pull the ding out with a "Bridge" that goes over the stud and you screw a wing nut onto it, then tighten. It actually works pretty neat and we had a guy at work (he has left the shop) who had gotten pretty good at it. Brian |

scam
that paintless dent repair is a scam and so is the dry ice.
some dentless repair dudes set up shop in a parking lot here a while back. i watched them as they turned minor dings into disasters. after they piss off enough people they just pull up stakes and move to virgin territory. lol... i tried some dry ice on my honda del sol. didn't do anything... nope ya gotta do it the old fashioned way by popping them out as far as possible, filing any high spots, then body filler, then some glazing then primer then paint. there ain't no santa clause either.... |

I have seen "gypsy bodymen" myself at a car wash that was in front of my bodyshop. Those scum would spread plastic filler all over some poor saps car and spray it with a splatter paint to hide the waves, it was horrible. Back to paintless, some of these guys are like friggin Warlocks! We have a guy who comes around for minor dings and "mistakes" like if we miss a ding in a panel that has been painted and stuff like that. This guy would blow your mind. No, it is the real deal. But there are good and bad ones just like Cops. Brian |

Chevy4x4, that's what Brian was talking about. Looks interesting as paintless dent removal can be expensive.
But, a good paintless dent removal guy can do some remarkable things. I bought my wife a year old CTS last year and it had four dings in it. The dealer told me to go to this place several blocks away. It was one of those do everything places, you know, window tinting, alarms, stereos, PDR and whatever else. I was kind of leary but the dealer was paying. Anyway, the guy did his magic and you absolutely cannot tell where the dents were. I was more than happy. PDR is great for minor dings where the paint is not scratched. |

if i could find some of that touch up paint the exact color.. then i could just touch up the scratches...
