Best way to install valve cover gromits. and breather question?

Anyone have a trick way to install the grommets into valve covers to keep the oil from weeping out from under them?

Also what is your preferred way of doing your breather? Push in self filtering one or the standard breather with a hose to the air cleaner? OR????

Getting ready to install my cast valve covers and want to do it right the first time. Also with cast covers I know I don't need spreader bars, but what about washers?

Regards
Mark

If passing EPA laws concern you then you'll need to vent the block to the air cleaner via a hose. This ensures that any unburnt hydrocarbons from the crankcase are not vented to the atmosphere. If you're free from EPA constraints then a self contained breather/filter assembly would certainly simplify and neaten things up. About the grommets not sure what to say. Maybe your intake manifold might accept an oil filler neck as to avoid punching a hole into one rocker cover. But don't know if there's a way to plumb the the PCV valve into the rear of the manifold for the same reason. Someone would know. Rob
