Best Way To Mask Paint Fumes
Im Sure Someone Out There Has Had This Problem. Im Spraying In My Garage. I Set Up A Air Tight Both With One Intake Fan And One Exaust Fan Going Out The Vent On The Side Of My House. My Neigbor Is A Jerk And I Think Hes Bound To Call The Cops. (by The Way It Wasnt A Problem When I Painted His Car Though) What Can I Do If Anything To Somehow Cover Up The Fumes. I Usually Paint Really Late At Night, But Hes Still A Jerk. Any Help Will Be Apreciated.

If you know this an illegal activity how can you ask the members of this board to help you do it?
You indicate that you know this may be illegal by stating your reluctance to let "the cops" know you are painting. If you are unsure whether this is an illegal activity you should contact the California Air resouces board. Rent time at a legal, permitted spray booth. You will get a better job and be sure you are doing your part to keep our air clean Hope this helps, mikey

I Think If You Want To Keep Painting In Your Garage You Should Move Where Your Garage Is Farther Away From Your Neighbors. They Have A Right To Complain About Being Forced To Breathe Toxic Fumes.

Yes I've painted at home without problems as have many, but I was living in the sticks out in the country without neighbors on top of you, and where I am at now, only have neighbor on one side and they are retired and gone a lot. Also I wasn't living in California which is the strictest on this type of thing. If you get caught, it could mean a very big fine. Your neighbor does have the right to complain about an illegal activity just as you do about him. Best suggestion I can give is to get the most efficient gun as you can and filter before exhaust. Not sure how your setup but some booths are water wash to handle paint fumes, maybe you could utilize that. But unless they are stupid, seeing that stuff they will know what you are doing.

is that what you use when you paint at home? Or do you just hope to not get caught? Later, Mikey (hippie)

This guy may be a jerk for all I know, but he certainly isn't because he doesn't want to smell paint fumes! I don't think we should EVER ask our neighbors to smell paint fumes even if they will "put up with it".
It is YOUR job to be sure they are not effected in ANY way by your painting. It isn't a "bad neighbor against good neighbor" it isn't "good guy against the cops" it is YOU need not effect your neighbors in ANY way as being the RIGHT thing to do. Wait until a good rainy day. Nothing will keep paint fumes down like rain. Brian |

My painting (odorous !!) days are Tuesdays and Thursdays when the neighbors are both at work. He's a teacher 5 days, she's a stay at home mom/part time lawyer.

like i said i paint in the wee hours of the morning when he is obviously asleep. so i see no point in him harassing me when he cant smell nothing. as for him thinking about air quality, he burns more rubber on the street, smokes, and dumps has used oil all over his yard which im sure someway ends up in the drain. so im not being totally ignorant here, i just want to pay my house note, , put food in my childrens stomach and a smile on my wifes face. is that alot to ask? so any sugestions ide love to hear, no lectures please

Lecture-free suggestions:
1. Use a brush. 2. Offer to paint more of his stuff. 3. Dig up some dirt on your neighbor and use it to blackmail him. 4. Leave California and move to the country. I did, and problem solved. P.S. If you ask for opinions, you are not always going to get ones you agree with!

OK -- why do people capitalize the first letter of every word?
I know its a dumb question but my curiousity is killing me. |

I've seen in other threads where Jon had said there was some formatting issues and problems with web tv users and posting. I don't know if this is the case here but It Would Be A Lot Of Work To Type Out Your Post And Capitalize Ever Letter, Whew!!!!! I thought for a bit by the post that the original poster and like a guirell where the same person, but one post has the Capitals and another doesn't, but it sure sounds like the same person from the reply.
