Which is the better intake?

Since my car has gone into the body shop and the hood is finally lined correctly with the rest of the body, I'm having clearance problems with my shaker scoop. It will close right now flush with no gasket around it. So, I need about an inch for the hood to close correctly and set nice on the gasket. Anyways my question is what intake manifold is better? The performer RPM (which is what I'm running) or the Weiand stealth? I know the weiand stealth will give me 3/4" more clearance but I was just wondering about the performance difference. I'd like to keep the rpm manifold but it would take some serious metal fabrication and modification to the stock aircleaner base to get it to work. Then linkages and the distributor would be an issue. So, I'll probably run the shorter manifold. Unless of course the rpm is that much better then I may try to modify the aircleaner without hacking it. I'd like to keep it a combo with my edelbrock carb and rpm cam. I wonder how the stealth would match up with them??

Weiand is the better brand. The ports are nearly the same either way. Weiand cost more.

One thing to think about if you do buy a Stealth. I have fixed two friends cars that had hot start problems after installing the Stealth. They soak up a lot of heat and transfer it to the carb.. The fix for both was to install a phenolic spacer ( not aluminum) under the carb to insulate it from the heat transfer. After that they both seem to really like the Stealth but, since you are trying to gain more clearance if you go to the Stealth and then have to add the spacer (to prevent heat soak) you will likely be back to the same point.

For those of you running a Stealth did/do you have any hot start issues? If not are you running a spacer? Next time you get your car nice and hot touch your carb and see how hot it is. I would be interested in the results.
