big block 56 chevy centerlink

My big block 55 uses a Moroso notched oil pan to clear the centerlink.A friend with a 56 wants to use a deep Stephs pan with his rat. He's considering cutting the centerlink and adding a "u" shape to clear his pan. Has anyone ever seen this done? In thirty years of poking around tri 5s I haven't.
