I have seen it done with manifolds and it was a bolt in fit with the exception of some very light grinding on the manifolds,I even saw one in an Astro van{tubbed out too!}.I have seen them in race applications and big tube headers are a bundle of snakes.The front end isnt that much different then a Malibu,so it will hold up fine.I would comb the swapmeets or parts traders for a few set of cheapie biglock used headers,and try and swap them in and out until you find something that is a close fit,then take it from there with a torch and a welder.I have put bigblocks into lots of different chassis this way.Good luck.
