Post big block cam help.

hello guys i need some help in picking the right cam. The engine is a 454, the heads are AFR 315,CNC (yet to be bought) that flow 400 cfm at .600 lift, The intake is an enderle stack manifold with individual runners and 2-7/16 butterflies (coolest looking item on my bookshelf as of yet). the manifold is converted to EFI and the exhaust manifold is equal length corvette headders with 2 primaries and 3,5 inch collector. the rest of the exhaust is also kept in 3,5 inch with staright through core mufflers.

i was considdering the comp cams 288AR grind for driveabillity and idle but i dont want to go undercammed with the potential of the combo,

i should mention that the tranny is a 700R4 from bowtie overdrives (greatest service ive ever had) and the rear end ratio is 3,73 and 28 inch tall rear rubber.

If you call Comp Cams, they have techs that know their cams and can help you decide if that's the right one for you.

Good luck.

I agree with BBB. Anytime you are looking for the ultimate cam, call the cam manufacturer's tech department. They can look at your combination and tell you exactly which cam will work best.

Just be careful on going overboard with lift and duration. Stock type pistons on BBC's don't leave much in the way of piston to valve clearance. Unless the valve notches are deapened on the pistons then anything over about .600 and 260@.05 duration will hit.
