Post big block or small block ford?

I have a ford 400m, but cannot tell if it is considered a big block or small block, so small block components say they will fit and so do some big block components, so which is it? any info would help me a lot- thanks. <img src="graemlins/spank.gif" border="0" alt="[spank]" />

It's a small block, this was in a thread a few weeks back. The only component that will readily fit from a big block (385 series) are the dist., carb and bellhousing. It is really an oversize Cleveland engine.

The 335 Series Engine Family is considered a small block. The 400 was derived from the 351C.

The 385 Series Engine Family is considered a big block. The FE Engine Family is considered a big block even though the first engine in the series displaced only 332ci.
