Finally got the car running.
Remember---I made my own mounting plates for the
small block aluminum brackets.
Everything I used was from a local junkyard, so nothing is really cleaned up.
It is my intent to have a set of these brackets powdercoated in silver or blue, and replace the important components with new by the beginning of summer.
Clearance from the power steering pulley to the pressure hose on the gearbox
is pretty close----to the fan motor VERY close.
If your heads are drilled for 7/16" bolts----you will need to ream out one hole
on each bracket.
I'm really surprised at how much clearance I have to the hood----plenty.
Thermostat housing is from and old Chevy pickup 6 cyliinder (68ish)
Upper radiator hose is from a 79 Pont Lemans----just about fits perfect
with my radiator.
I would prefer the radiator hose to come up the middle, in front of the belt,
and then to the radiator opening, but I did not go thru a bunch of hoses at
a parts house------ALL Junkyard stuff.
Note---I also used a support rod from an S-10 that fit perfectly
between teh tensioner and the upper water pump bolt.
The bracket that supports the alternator from the rear is from a
V-8 truck----bolts to the back of the power steering pump, and the back of the alternator, and is also clamped to the exhaust manifold from the factory.
I cut the manifold portion from the bracket and used it just for a little support for the back of the alternator.
Junkyard alternator, Waterpump, Power Steering pump---working just fine.
(Dunno how long tho )
