bigger than stock lifters, is it worth it?

is it worth the cost to go from a .842 chevy lifter to a .875 ford? i know it wont be worth nothing without getting a cam designed for the bigger lifter, the ramps could be more aggressive & have more lift. would it be worth the cost?
