billet steering wheel

Have a 95 chevrolet silverado and want to mount a billet steering wheel.
What do i have to do with the airbag in the standard wheel?
Can i just disconnect it or what, any electric problems to expect (computer, sensors).

Thanks.

Illegal or not , that is my decision.
But that was not the question and the answer i needed.
I hope someone has a answer to my question.
Ive seen lots of trucks in mags with other steering wheels.
So it must be posible.

Thanks .

Get ahold of a body shop manual for the car and look up how to dis- arm and remove the airbag....then change out the steering wheel. Or maybe ask at your local body shop as they remove and install airbags every day.

No doubt it can be done. A buddy of mine cut the one out of his Caddy steering wheel, said he didn't trust the damned things. He's not around anymore, so I can't tell you exactly how he did it...sorry. It worked for him!
Oh yeah, just found this on net, maybe it will help some if the year model bags are similar...http://www.autowoods.com/1998-02_guide.htm. Good luck!
