Bilstein vrs everything else

Car is 79 TA, eibach lowering springs,
How important is shock choice? My friend is adamant that I get Bilsteins, but is it worth the extra price? What else compares that is either european or american made?

your friend is obviously retarded, everybody knows the best performance shocks are kyb because they are named after the lube.

The two applications I have driven with bilsteins shocks have a phenomenal ride quality/high speed cornering ability.

I have Bilstein's on two of the three cars I own, so I am biased in my opinion. I think they are great shocks. I have a Hotchkis valved set on my Dakota, and a sport valved set on the wifes Bravada. They may be a little more money but are worth it IMO.
Edit: I also have Eibach springs on the Dakota

For those that like a great ride and a great shock will use Bilstine, Made a different truck out of my 55 GMC with a Mll front suspension, rides smoother and doesn't feel like it is harsh when you hit a pot hole. Great product!!
