A bit of Drag race history rolled in today

Brings back Tri-City and Detroit dragway memories.

Actually this is a clone of the original "Candymatic" that was destroyed in a racing accident.

Literally rolled into the shop as it has a sick Hemi in it. No. 8 cylinder is hurt. I repaired the head a few weeks ago. But further investigation led the owner to bring the entire car in.. It is a very nice ride!!

It's cool but he needs to loose the braided line and electric fan. A "clone" should mean a clone! That's my opinion at least.

The car is still raced. Thus the modern pieces on it. I also noticed it has Wilwood brake master and many other unseen safety pieces. Car runs 10.50's smoking the tires..

I'm with you, it's raced, and it was in 1968 too, without those things. Obviously it's a bad ars car and I am not knocking it. I am just a bit anal on keeping things to a theme, every nut and bolt. We are just standing around in a garage having a beer chatting about this car, I would loose that stuff.

Nice Mopar!!! We called em "CANDY STRIPER"s when I was with the company.

I worked for Ramchargers for a while in the 70s outside Detroit. I do know that: The famous name and candy stripes adorning the roof, sides and deck lid in order to be used in any way, must have full cooperation of the OWNER of the "Ramchargers" trademark and identity!!!!

I see the hood is for a cross ram like on the Max wedge or Hemi is it running a cross ram? And is it the light body (aluminum parts)?

this took me some time to find this. yes it is a slide and i was lucky to get this shot of it , my dad got this race car from a customers son in about 74 or 75, and cheap. He never got to run it down the track, the guy that sold it thought the motor was locked up. and yes it was by a 25 cent torque converter bolt ,stuck in the starter drive. the old owner spent a heck of alot of money for the time. and this was a fresh build

this was raced at Raceway Park Englishtown NJ. My two Brothers raced it as i was only about 8 at the time

but they would rip up and down around my dad's shop with me as a copilot . i think my neck still hurts from this!!. that was when it started for me .

You sure that ain't some sort of "Aussie" Dodge up there.

Lettering is backwards------I heard this happens when you go south of the equator,
And the steering wheel is on the wrong side

(always nice to see the 60s Mopars-----and of couorse virtually any ElCamino)
