Black Oak Arkansas
Has anyone ever heard of the 70's Southern Rock Band,Black Oak Arkansas?Just curious.Not alot of people know of them.

Sounds familiar to me, but im also from the midwest region. Not sure if the north gets exposed to good music.

I believe that they toured everywhere through the 70's.They even went to London,I believe.Their some good 'ol boys
.They had songs like "Happy Hooker","Mutants Of The Monster",and "Hot Rod".They're plenty more.They released something like 20 or so records,if I'm not mistaken.Jim Dandy was their singer,if that helps  .Jacob Middleton

Thety didnt sing that one song that goes " Jim Dandy to the rescue" did they? Thats the only Jim Dandy I can remember.

Yepo..They did a remake of that one also.They also did a remix of the traditional song,"Dixie",if you know that one.

Ah yeah, then, im sure alot of people have heard of them. Jim Dandy was on the "Dazed and Confused" soundtrack. Wonder what they and Zeppelin mean by dazed and confused??

They were a southern rock band in the 70's and 80's and had some very good music. They were similar to Skynrd and the Almond Brothers Band. I saw them once in the early 80's when I used to drink too much Yukon Jack and maybe a little of that crazy t-kil-ua. My eyes hurt just thinking about it.

Yepo..They're still around..I was going to try to go tomorrow night to see them at the Horseshoe Casino in Tunica,Mississippi,but it didn't work out like I wanted it too.Oh well..I'll get my chance someday
 .Some damn good 'ol boys though..I really like "Bump N' Grind" and "Strong Enough To Be Gentle"..Those are classics .What can I say..I love 'em all!That's a great site also.I've been going there for awhile .Jacob Middleton

I'll tell you guys..Black Oak Arkansas has to be one of the best.Every song they recorded,they did with style.I even have alot of fun listening to them.These guys really seem like they have alot of fun recording also.I guess that's why it's so fun.I love all their songs.There's too many to mention.I would also recommend the Black Oak Arkansas "The First 30 Years" DVD to anyone that loves BOA.It's got lots of pics and some great concerts.It even has an interview with Jim Dandy and it shows you how they live and work.It's interesting.It's usually available on eBay,but you can get it at the BOA website that EBlack36 posted above.It runs about $20 with shipping.Enjoy,and keep the BOA stories coming!
