If you want the blackest black, go with SPI. They have base and SS.

Lot's of brands out there besides SPI! PPG, Martin Senour, Valspar, Spies Hecker, Standox, HOK, DuPont, Nason, Sherwin Williams, Sikkens, AutoColor, Kirker, Auto Air Colors (Water Based),

Just to name a few. Now take your pick and stay with all the same product throughout your painting process ie; primer, basecoat, hardeners, clearcoat etc.

Good luck!

i prefer single stage for black. clear tends to cloud it after a while. i also prefer spi products to the others mentioned both in cost and performance.

Yeah, lots of paint companies to pick from but SPI sure has a nice black, and the undercoats and clears are all good...

You can do your own tests, bc/cc or just singlestage each has it's own advantages and also it's own look. It all depends on what you're after. BC/CC is actually darker than a singlestage-test for yourself and see, but a clearcoated black also has a different shine and will show any little scuff or scratch much more than a singlestage black.

Sort of.
If you want it B-L-A-C-K. Single stage is the way and at least 2 apps with sanding between.
DEEP black is possiable either way,Just involves using clear top coats.

SPI Black or HOK is as black as you can get out of the can. Mixing a litttle Violet toner in will make it even better.

violet? I've used blue before and you'll find blue in many mixing formulas. I guess I'll have to try violet now Thanks for the info Mike.
