black plugs

I just checked my plugs on my BBC with a 671 GMC blower.I'm afrain to lean out my carbs so I run it a little rich.I didn't replace the cam yet so its still a mild street bumpstick.Could the incorrect duration or lobe separation cause my plugs to soot up quickly? What heat range do you guys suggest.Right now I'm using motorcraft 25 plugs.

I have the same problem with my blown sbc.But its common with a blower motor, because your not in boost very often on the street your not creating much cylinder pressure to burn all that extra fuel.I put a hotter plug in mine and it helped a little, the only other thing is to advance your timing more. This is the catch 22 with a blown street engine.

The tune is very important with any forced induction motor
