so what does everybody use when re painting there cars? do you use gloss black on all the trim? satin black? or base coat with a satin clear or something? gonna paint my 85 light regetta blue within the next 2 weeks, but unsure If i should use a flat black or a gloss black on all the trim, thanks guys

SEM Trim Black, it is like a satin finish, something like 30% gloss. Mimics the factory trim black real well.

IS or CAN you put clear coat over that?

That would make it a gloss finish.

I use this paint for a lot of things.... exterior trim ....frames .... engine compart,emts ....the inside of bike fenders ....etc.

It's a one shot deal, needing no primer, and the adhesion is very good.

I think you can buy it in either enamel or lacquer base.

woulsent the single stage SEM out of the can scratch pretty easy? I would like to put a clear over it to protect it, but if it isent nessacery, well....

It is meant to be an exterior finish for trim parts. It has been pretty tough, and I've never noticed it scratching easy, after using it for about 20 years on countless jobs. I use the lacquer formula, but I imagine both are good.
