it blew

Well after a year of screwing around with the 4.3 in my Chev 1/2 ton I think it is over. The s.o.b backfired hard and it blew out both valve cover gaskets and scared all the birds out of the neighbourhood. I guess my plan to check out the iac is on hold. I am real close to installing a gen V 454 I have and going with a carb. It won,t be as good on gas but it will be more fun.
Clint

Sorry to hear that.... Make sure it's done before you pull it because $3.00+ a gallon hurts! In my situation i found it cheaper to have a V6 S15 and then have my toy(455ci firebird). Nowadays I have alot of respect for people that have gas friendly daily drivers and hot rods on the side.

1989 4.3

I doubt that the motor is a throwawy I just have ran out of inertia in dealing with the popping and backfiring so out it comes and when it goes back anywhere it will have a good carb and decent heads etc.... P.S when it is really warmed up it runs fine so it is not a timing chain or worse.
