block filler
I went thru the archives but couldn't find the right thread.
I read some time ago about using sanded grout as a filler and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction.I have access to alot of this product because I work for a flooring retailer. Thanks

Sanded grout is not the right stuff. You need hydraulic cement (calcium hemihydrate).

The Moroso product we used in a 454 block didn't look any different than hardware store fare, but who knows if there's any meaningful differences or not.
I found that rapping hell out of the block with a BIG rubber mallet as it was poured helped to get the trapped air up and out, as well as tipping the block back and fourth- both sideways and fore and aft. |

Sanded grout will actually soften when exposed to water and will make it weak. Thats one reason after laying ceramic tile, you have to seal the grout joints.

FYI, Hardblok (brand name) is just hydraulic cement with iron filings sprinkled in.
