Block hugger headers

Hi,
Are block hugger headers any good for performance?
I have a pair on my sbc due to clearance issues, I seen a few posts recently(techinspector) staing they are no better than cast iron ones? Or am I reading it wrong.
Dave

In most cases hot rodders avoid shorty headers if possible. In some cases nothing else can be used and they are slightly better flowing and better looking than stock exhaust manifolds so they`re used.
Here`s a article, or test really, on shorty`s vs long tube on a Ford 5.0.
Maybe it`ll give you the insight your looking for.

Agreed 100%....they do have thier place in tight fitting engine bays where a guy wants something besides stock ugly manifolds. You said "performance" thats where you will want 4 tube long headers or even tri-y's. Ok Tech, take a breath and count to 10 before your reply........
