block numberes

johnsongrass1 09-23-2003 10:32 PM

They look like block numbers to me as well. What's the problem?

are they good or bad y does it seem soo slow in powere is because of the heads

All that those numbers tell us is that is a 350cid block from between 1970-76. If it seems underpowered, then give us all the specifics about the engine and maybe we can suggest something.

Look for a stamped number on the front of the block, to the left and near the top of the timing chain cover, just under the alternator. You may have to take the alternator off and use a scraper/engine degreaser to read the number. That will tell you where it was made and what type of vechile it was put in, as well as some other info.

the number is C just by its self

You are looking for more than just a C, there should be like 7 numbers and letters on the flat spot just under the alternator maybe more. Use some emery paper to clean up the flat spot and see if you find more numbers.
