blown head gasket, frozen motor. please help!!!
well my name is jeremy and i own a 79 camaro with a 383 stroker under the hood.
story is i was driving to work one day and noticed that i had smoke(not much but still smoke) coming into the car as well as out the back. so i pull over and look under the car and noticed it stopped whenever i put the car into park, or when i hit the gas...it was white in color. so after i get to work it just stopped blowing smoke until a few days later when i had to jump on the freeway and stomp on it due to a friend getting into an accident he never walked away from...RIP... well n e ways i started smoking out the entire freeway.after a while and i knew it was a blown head gasket after i let it cool down and checked the rad and seen the oil mixed with my coolant. so i got a gasket set, slapped it on like I've done on many other occasions for folks and when i got in the car to start it and see how it was running, it wouldn't turn over...it just sounded like my battery was dead so i had my friend jump it and it still made the same noise even though it was still hooked up after being jumped for bout 10 min. so the next day i figured it was the starter so i got a new 1. still the same thing...got a new distribuer cap and a new alternator, still the same old clicking like the battery was dead...so i got a new battery as well. but no change... so for whatever reason i happen to look at the flywheel and noticed that the starter wheel was stuck between the flywheel gears so i tried to move the flywheel and noticed, it wouldn't move. after freeing the starter by taking it back off i tried to move the flywheel again. it moved but only after i pulled a few muscles trying...so it now moves but stiffly. i tore down the entire top end and even with no compression on the pistons its still no good. the starter cant turn it but i can by hand with a lot of effort. what could have happened? what should i look for? and how do i fix this problem??? right before i put on the new gaskets it still turned over so why after i just put on a new gasket would the bottom end have issues??? please help me if you can folks. thanx, jeremy Register now (free) or login to remove ads |
